Christian Holm-Svendsen Trio

Saxophonist Christian Holm-Svendsen and his trio have stories to tell. They are mostly reassuring and formally circumscribed: they have beginnings, middles and ends; and they now and then take the listener to troubled places, but never leave them there awaiting rescue.

The Copenhagen based jazz trio consists of some of northern Europe's most unique and interesting voices. Bandleader, composer and saxophonist Christian Holm-Svendsen (DK) put together drummer Daniel Sommer (DK) and bassist Mariusz Praśniewski (PL) to explore the repertoire which gathers its inspiration from the melancholic scandinavian jazz to the energetic NYC jazz scene - a very transformative scene for Christian where he lived and played for two years.

Christian Holm-Svendsen Trio released their debut record ‘Totem’ (June 2024, April Records) which was nominated for a Danish Music Award and received international acclaim. The most important newspaper in Denmark, Politiken, awarded the album 5 hearts with the words: “He’s a bright talent: One of the most melodious Danish talents is the young saxophonist Christian Holm-Svendsen. His music is a gift for this summer” The trio continues to explore new repertoire and is expected to release their following record on April Records beginning in 2027.
